Giant Steps in Nido

We want to take the opportunity in this last newsletter to reflect on all the progress your little ones have made over the past year.  Some of them arrived at Nido crawling and are now confidently taking their first steps.  Some of them began by babbling and are now saying their first words.  Apart from large strides in movement and communication they have also been introduced to the core values of a Montessori education.

In Nido we teach the children the Montessori fundamentals that will last throughout their academic career.  We have accompanied them through their first experience of a school environment, helping them adapt and grow with confidence and security.  We are delighted to see how happy and comfortable the children are in the Nido environment.  A positive and joyful first school experience helps create a strong foundation for future learning, and their first year at BMS has been a very successful one.

Small children are like little scientists; learning by exploring and testing out how things work through trial and error.  Most of the Nido students arrived eager to discover their surroundings through movement and sensory experiences. They have developed their concentration, coordination, and independence, learning to work with materials on rugs, carry trays carefully, and engage purposefully with activities.  As they increase in their language skills, so too does their ability; to communicate their needs, interests, and use their hands to manipulate the materials.

We are so proud of our little Nido children and how much they have achieved this year.  They have embraced daily routines and Montessori practices such as working  independently, respecting others, and taking turns to work with the materials.  They have taken on small responsibilities in taking care of themselves and their environment such as preparing a snack when they are hungry or packing away when they finish an activity.  These habits foster independence, confidence, and respect—qualities that will continue to benefit them throughout their lives.
