Enrichment Activities

  • Pottery and Ceramic with Primary

Pottery is a fun educational journey. Through pottery children can learn how to follow directions as well as be creative and express themselves. It is not only a fun therapeutic activity, but it allows our body and mind to work together. It is a great way of improving sensory and motor skills whilst boosting your child’s self confidence whilst stimulating their creative outlet.

We will design ideas by looking at other artists that create sculptures and ceramics. By experimenting with different techniques of manipulating clay such as pinch pot and other handbuilding techniques we will develop our ability to mould clay into the forms we want to create. Some of us might even get to try using a potter's wheel once we become proficient in the other techniques!

  • Arts and crafts with Children's House

In this activity we will be able to get an insight into different creative techniques, many will be ones that children have never seen before. In the past we have worked with screen printing, tie dyeing techniques, and mural making. We will try working with new media and using skills we learn in the classroom, such as sewing and bead threading, to create other projects. We will get our inspiration from other artists by looking at their styles and techniques of working, whilst learning about their lives through storytelling, videos and sharing of ideas. This is a great opportunity for children to explore, experiment and work in a team, whilst creating something amazing together.

  • Body Expression with Children's House

We will express in a creative way through our body that which we find more difficult to express with words.

We will explore new ways of moving the body trying to interpret sensations and emotions through dance.

Creativity and imagination in this activity will give us tools for self-knowledge and discovery of our body.

Music and dance will be fundamental to work on body expression, making this activity an experience where they can develop their motor, rhythmic and sensory skills.
